On February 27th, the Eagles Nest hosted its annual dinner auction and gala themed, “One Starry Night”. Over 150 people gathered together that night with the goal of raising funds for Desert Chapel Christian Schools. This year there was a nice addition to our gala. At the end of our live auction, we honored two very special people: Susan and Carlyle Lyneis. These amazing individuals have given a big part of their lives to Desert Chapel. Susan served as a principal and Carlyle as a football coach, not to mention the areas of service within the Desert Chapel church community. We had several guest speakers share experiences and memories honoring these two deserving people. At the close of the ceremony, we ventured outside to our football field and illuminated our scoreboard where it now states that this is “LYNEIS FIELD”. Yes, we dedicated our field to the Lyneis’ and it was a great evening recognizing those who have served so diligently.

The fundraiser was a success as well. We were able to raise funds to not only support our school, but also began a campaign to improve our football field facilities. This ambitious campaign will take several years to complete, but if the enthusiasm of our “donors” at the auction is an indicator, we will reach our goal very soon.
